Star Wars: The Last Jedi Celebrates Female Heroes

In the second largest opening weekend ever (trailing only slightly behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Star Wars: The Last Jedi brought in an estimated $220 million, according to Disney. With powerful female characters taking charge in this film, opening day demographics show a near-balance of male and female viewers – 58% male vs. 43% female. The Star Wars fan-base has been majority male since its introduction to the world 40 years ago, but with more portrayals of the strong female lead characters many women have always craved, the Star Wars fandom will only continue to grow.
